I bought this motor primarily to clear brush at our house cabin and also because it will take other attachments, such as the pole saw, to help with this purpose. It's handy to have a 4-cycle motor so I don't have to mix oil with the gas and I've never had strangeness getting it to start. I ensue the starting directions of the manufacturer and it starts right up, runs well, and does the job for me. I've never used the brush blade that came with the motor as I prefer to use a Beaver Blade, two flat metal plates welded together with a chainsaw chain around the edge. I was surprised Amazon doesn't list the Beaver Blade at this time, at least not with any of the searches I tried, but this blade goes straight through brush as if it isn't even there and you feel like you're swinging the motor straight through air. You can literally find a Beaver Blade straight through a google search, though, and they're ready in a variety of diameters to fit just about any machine. Beaver Blades cost more than most blades, but they also do much more than most blades and do it with ease. They sharpen just like a chainsaw and will even cut down trees up to 3" in diameter (mine went straight through a 3" oak growing too close to the driveway as if it were soft butter). If one opts to use a Beaver Blade, I can't propose strongly adequate to have a durable face shield with a metal mesh as opposed to the nylon mesh most shields have as I don't think nylon mesh would stand up long to the debris that was stinging my face the first time I used a Beaver Blade while wearing protection glasses without a face shield. I chose the Rockman excellent protection Helmet which has 24 dB ear muffs, the metal mesh face shield, a well-ventilated helmet, and the elective protection goggles which slide down to your eyes and retract into the helmet between your eyes and the face shield. Unfortunately, this protection helmet isn't ready at Amazon, either, at this time.
As to the machine, it assembles easily, starts easily, and runs powerfully and well and I'd propose it to anyone. The Ez-Link attachment association permits Ez-Link attachments not only made by Troy-Bilt, but also made by Craftsman, Cub Cadet, Homelite, McCulloch, Ryobi, Yard Machines, and Yard-Man. I also use the pole saw attachment with this motor which also works very well, although it lists as giving you up to 11 feet of reach but the actual measurement when connected to this motor along with the postponement boom is 8 feet from the butt of the motor to the tip of the chainsaw.
